Most of UAE has a subtropical desert climate, with dry and hot summers and sandy weather, the highest temperature can reach 50 degrees Celsius or more. The project is located on the sinuous bikeway at Jumeirah Beach. There are a lot of cyclists on the road, and some citizens and tourists cross the lane from time to time, which puts forward high requirements for the ability of autonomous curbside cleaning and obstacle avoidance.
V3 needs to get very close to the curb to perform curbside-cleaning. Autowise.ai’s R&D team simulated the local working conditions of 50-65℃, and carried out all-round testing and calibriation for the EIC system, hydraulic system, cleaning system, chassis structure, interior and exterior trim, low voltage apparatus and the autonomous driving system, so as to ensure standard operation of V3 under extreme weather conditions. For the special road conditions of the bicycle path, the R&D team integrates multi-perception solutions such as LiDAR, millimeter wave radars, cameras, HD maps and other data sources for real-time perception, so that V3 can achieve accurate curbside cleaning, obstacle avoidance, collision avoidance, and flexible U-turns.
The head of the Waste Operation Department of Dubai Municipality recognized Autowise V3’s autonomous driving capability and cleaning effect.This landing lays the foundation for the subsequent large-scale application of autonomous driving in the Middle East.
